Questions
Every action in Hippocampus is metered in credits, one unit with the same value on every tier and every invoice. The published tariff on pricing sets what importing a page, asking a question or calling the API costs, and the price of an action is shown before you take it. A document uploaded again unchanged is recognised as a duplicate and not charged again.
Free gives you a workspace created with default settings and a monthly credit allowance, with no subscription fee. It covers importing PDF, Word, Markdown and scanned documents, the wiki of your documents, and cited answers that refuse when the documents do not say. The included users, workspaces and credits are listed on pricing; more users or credits mean moving to Starter.
No, the Free plan needs only your email address: no card and no API key. Starter is a paid subscription, billed in advance monthly or annually, and payment is handled by the provider named at checkout.
Starter is a self-service subscription for a team; Corporate is a custom subscription agreed with us. Starter gives you a workspace you create and administer, extra users, added credits pooled for the team, and the advanced import models and premium answer model. Corporate adds single sign-on, audit export, negotiated terms, your own model key or admin-chosen models, a shared or dedicated EU stack, and usage invoiced monthly without a lock-out.
The estimator on pricing takes the package, the kind of documents, the number of users and the share of credits you expect to spend on importing, and splits the monthly credits that way. The import share is divided by the per-page tariff for that kind of document and the rest by the tariff for a cited answer on the efficient model, which gives the pages you can import and the questions you can ask. Corporate is sized to your volume, so the estimator shows no count for it.
On Free and Starter the meter fails closed: importing and metered questions pause until credits are added or the plan changes, while reading the wiki stays available. You are never charged an overage silently. On Corporate, usage beyond the agreement is invoiced monthly and nobody is locked out.
No, credits have no cash value and are not refundable, except where the law requires. Included credits renew each billing month and do not roll over; added credits never expire and are used after the included ones. If you cancel an annual Starter plan, the unused whole months are refunded.
Yes, a refusal costs the same as an answer, and a follow-up counts as a new question. A refusal is the system telling you the documents do not cover the question, instead of guessing.
